Support for Global Foundation for Children with Hearing Loss

We are happy to be able to support organizations that do good and valuable work in aid projects with our Christmas Charity and in the name of our customers. We are also thankful for the positive feedback we receive from you on this project. This year we are happy to have made a donation to The Global Foundation For Children With Hearing Loss, an organization that aims to make a direct and lasting impact on young children living in developing countries who are deaf or hard of hearing by establishing the early identification, hearing technology, local professional expertise, and resources these children need to learn to listen and speak and achieve their full potential.

A Unique and Sustainable Model

The GFCHL has a unique and sustainable model. Instead of providing direct service to children, the organization focuses on building local expertise, raising awareness, and developing systems and resources to help a given country better respond to the needs of its children who are deaf or hard of hearing. The organization collaborates with governments and other in-country partners across both hearing healthcare and early education to identify and address gaps in the current system of support for young children 0-6 years of age with hearing loss and their families.

Additionally, the GFCHL leads educational seminars for families of children with hearing loss and supports outreach efforts to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with pediatric hearing loss in the community. The GFCHL also provides hearing technology to children in need who are supported ongoing by those it trains.

Programs in Vietnam and Mongolia

The organization has provided these programs in Vietnam since 2010 and in Mongolia since 2017. Also, in Mongolia, the GFCHL is helping the government to implement newborn hearing screening, the important first step towards timely intervention to address hearing loss in children. Each year, over 30,000 newborns are screened for hearing loss in the capital of Ulaanbaatar as a direct result of the GFCHL’s efforts.
