KKDIK: Extended Registration Deadlines Are Official!

The Regulation on Chemicals Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction (“KKDIK”) in Türkiye (Regulation No. 30105) came into force on December 23rd, 2017. The competent authority in Türkiye is the Ministry of Environment Urbanization and Climate Change (MoEUCC).

The KKDIK Regulation established a transitional provision for registration where all substances manufactured or imported into Türkiye at 1 t/a or more had to be registered by December 31st, 2023.

Official Extended Deadlines for Registrations

On October 2023, the initial planning regarding the KKDIK was discussed during an assessment meeting organized by the General Directorate of Environmental Management Chemicals Department within the MoECC.

Finally, on December 23rd, the Türkiye KKDIK Registration deadline postponements have been made official by publishing the amended KKDIK legal text in the Official Gazette1. The amendment postpones the registration deadlines for substance manufactured in or imported into Türkiye as follows:

KKDIK extended deadlines timeline

End of 2026:

  • Substances manufactured or imported in an annual amount of 1000 tons or more.
  • Substances manufactured or imported in an annual amount of 100 tons or more and are classified as Aquatic Acute 1 and Aquatic Chronic 1 (H400, H410) according to the Regulation on the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures.
  • Substances manufactured and imported in an annual quantity of 1 ton or more and are classified Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, and Toxic to the Reprotoxic Category 1A and 1B according to the Regulation on the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures.

End of 2028:

  • Substances manufactured or imported in an annual quantity of 100 tons or more.

End of 2030:

  • Substances manufactured or imported in an annual amount of 1 ton or more.
