On 8th and 9th October 2020, the TBM Group held their virtual conference with a focus on the Waste Framework Directive and the SCIP Database. As one of the sponsors of the event, we had the opportunity to present to the main audience and the opportunity to connect with the audience in the organized breakout sessions. Our presentation focused on the best practices and recommendations from early adopters for efficiently managing SCIP requirements. During the breakout sessions, we did a of EPN SCIP, our SAP-based solution for creating SCIP notifications.
We are proud to announce that the first customer successfully submitted a dossier to the ECHA SCIP Database out of their SAP system.
opesus has been part of the ECHA SCIP IT User Group since Oct 2019. The SCIP IT User Group meets monthly to discuss IT improvements, challenges, and issues surrounding the ECHA SCIP database. One of the main topics of discussions is around system-to-system integration (S2S) between a customer’s ERP system and the ECHA SCIP database.
Are you supplying articles and complex objects on the EU market? If you are, the requirements of the Waste Framework Directive (WFD) might affect you. EU suppliers of articles and complex objects that contain substances from the Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHC) are required to submit information to the SCIP database. This requirement kicks into effect from 5th January 2021.
We were presenting about the requirements for the SCIP database at the Electronics Goes Green 2020 conference. As the name goes, the Electronics Goes Green conference brings together all key players and stakeholders in the electronics and ICT industry.
The German industrial group for mechanical engineering (VDMA: Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau) conducted a virtual information day for its members on August 27th regarding the SCIP database. We were honored to have had the opportunity to present to the group about our SAP-based solution for SCIP.
Twice a year the entire opesus team comes together for a full week of what we call “Office Weeks”- one in summer and another in winter. For us, these weeks are the most intense, productive, and popular team working weeks of the year.
Opesus EHS Product Notification (EPN) for the EU SCIP Format is now available! Suppliers of articles who need to submit notifications to the ECHA SCIP database can now use opesus EPN to generate and submit dossiers in the SCIP format.
Right on schedule, the team at opesus released a new major version (3.2.10) of opesus EHS Product Notification (EPN). EPN is now used by more than 60 customers to report product data to ECHA, making it the market-leading software for companies using SAP.
On the 4th and 5th of May, ChemAcademy hosted the CLP Art. 45 Workshop. Opesians Markus Pogrzeba and David Köhler led the web conference and provided the framework for the workshop.
When we had to decide to cancel the conference in Frankfurt in order to switch to an online event, it was not easy for us. The personal exchange between customers, interested parties and partners is very important to us. As you know, our corporate philosophy is based to a large extent on precisely this personal and direct contact.
On 17th March, ECHA held a webinar where they introdcued the SCIP database prototype. With more than 250 people listening in, the webinar was very well attended. The prototype of the SCIP database was released a month ago to allow duty holders to familiarize themselves with the process of preparing and submitting dossiers in a test environment.

Like many others, the CEO and the team of opesus had to make some difficult decisions and adapt their behavior to the new situation. How do we handle customer appointments? ChemCon Americas was held in Philadelphia from March 2nd-March 6th. The five-day event was well-attended, bringing together experts from companies, authorities, and organizations.
At a working group meeting of the working group “legally compliant environmental management”, Andreas Müller presented on the ECHA SCIP Database. As the opesus expert on the upcoming SCIP requirements, Andreas covered the regulatory requirements and included tips on how companies can start preparing for the upcoming deadline.
Get ready for SCIP! The opesus EHSM Smart Input (ESI) now supports the new SCIP format. This means you can start to prepare for SCIP requirements by importing the REACH SVHC Candidate List in ESI.
Tested, checked, and released! The latest release of the opesus EHS Product Notification (EPN) software supports update scenarios and integrates system-to-system (S2S) communication. This means that you can submit dossiers for the poison centres directly out of your SAP system.
Since 2013 opesus has been attending the Federal Institute of Risk (BfR) annual user conferences. This year Markus Pogrzeba and Mark Pfister attended the 10th BfR user conference in Berlin. Being the 10th event, it had one of the largest turnouts with about 350 attendees. The focus was the implementation of the harmonized notification obligations according to Annex VIII of the CLP regulation.
opesus was on the road again last week. On Nov 11th, at the meeting of the of the German SAP User Group (DSAG), and the next day, on Nov 12th, at the EHS IT workgroup of the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI). Markus Pogrzeba is the deputy speaker of the DSAG EH&S workgroup. Additionally, he spoke on the latest updates on CLP Art. 45 at the VCI EHS IT workgroup.
