The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) is the appointed body for receiving product notifications and forwarding them to the various poison centres in Germany. As the main responsible body, the BfR also checks product notifications for completeness and accuracy and work hand-in-hand with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
On November 8 and 9, 2021, SAP held a two-day conference the SAP Environmental, Health and Safety and Product Compliance Info Days. This conference, held annually, is targeted to customers using SAP sustainability solutions. As an SAP Partner, naturally we attended the virtual webinar to get to know the latest solution updates and planned developments in the area of SAP Product Compliance.
On the 25th and 26th of October 2021, we finally had the chance to be at an on-site conference again. After a year of virtual events, this was a much-welcomed change. The 13th annual conference on CLP Classification, Labelling, and Packaging organized by the Chem-Academy was a hybrid event. It gave the participants the flexibility to either be on-site in Bonn or participate virtually.

We are proud to announce that the latest version of opesus EHS Product Notification, version 4.2, is now available! This new release brings with it improvements and features for submitting information to the ECHA SCIP Database.
By moving in a larger office in the city of Augsburg, we not only gained more space, but also an outdoor area with a beautiful view of city gardens and huge trees. We plan to use the space for our breaks, but also for meeting or working outdoors. And, for the time after Corona, we hope to come together with our colleagues from all other offices as well as to welcome friends and visitors from elswhere. In keeping with our corporate culture, we want to have very good conditions for productive work in all of our offices, and create places where we enjoy spending time and meeting others. Many good reasons to set about making this outdoor area as beautiful and cozy as possible.

Besides new features for the poison centre notifications, we also included updates to the Swiss BAG format due to the upcoming compliance date for the new Swiss UFI requirement.
ECHA announced a significant milestone for Poison Centre Notifications (PCN) and the use of the PCN format by the industry: At the end of June 2021, just six months after the compliance date, the one-millionth poison centre notification was successfully submitted to the ECHA Submission Portal.

The Chem-Academy workshops are one of the more popular events on the safe use of chemicals and regulations. Aimed at product safety managers, we were happy to have had the opportunity to meet with many familiar people and faces. We have always been a part of the CLP Article 45 Regulation workshop since it first started in 2018.

We are happy to be able to support organizations that do good and valuable work in aid projects with our Christmas Charity and in the name of our customers. We are also thankful for the positive feedback we receive from you on this project. This year we are happy to have made a donation to The Global Foundation For Children With Hearing Loss, an organization that aims to make a direct and lasting impact on young children living in developing countries who are deaf or hard of hearing by establishing the early identification, hearing technology, local professional expertise, and resources these children need to learn to listen and speak and achieve their full potential.
Say what you want about 2020, but this year was special. It demanded strong nerves, flexibility, and creative thinking from everyone at opesus. Qualities that we cultivated before and always like to use. Nevertheless, we were forced to approach the year in a different way than we were used to. We look back at 2020 with some wistfulness about missed personal encounters and the limitations that we had overcome. On the other hand, we are happy about the things that we managed and implemented together despite the challenges – with success, fun, and our personal touch.
In our virtual Winter Office Week, we once again dealt with many exciting topics. One session was dedicated to sustainability – a topic that is important to us. We also want to live up to our company name: opesus is made up of the words operative and sustainability. Good reasons to take a fresh look at old patterns of behavior and decide on some innovations to improve on our sustainability.
